Frequently Asked Questions

What are the key performance benefits of the BFGoodrich® HD-Terrain T/A® KT tire?

The Ultimate Tire for the Toughest Jobs

• ENGINEERED FOR EXTREMES: Tested in the most punishing environments for tires. Recommended by the most extreme users.

• TUNED FOR TORQUE: Purpose-built for Heavy-Duty trucks that have tons of torque.

• DESIGNED TO DO MORE: Dependable traction for trucks that spend most of their life on unpaved roads and rough job sites.

Why did BFGoodrich® develop a new tire line with the BFGoodrich® HD-Terrain T/A® KT tire?

Consumers expect their heavy-duty trucks to perform well in any situation. While the work environment can be very demanding on vehicles, most tire options today are not designed for extreme chip and tear usage, but instead designed for recreational off-road applications.

The BFGoodrich® HD-Terrain T/A® KT tire fills a void in the market and in our brand portfolio and was purposely built for consumers who want the Ultimate Tire for the Toughest Jobs.

When does this product launch?

The BFGoodrich® HD-Terrain T/A® KT tire will launch on April 1, 2023, with 27 sizes. The remaining 4 sizes will be released by July 1, 2023.

What’s the market coverage of HD-Terrain?

HD-Terrain covers practically all current in-market Heavy-Duty Truck sizes, including key plus sizes.

Where is this tire produced?

The BFGoodrich HD-Terrain T/A® KT tire is produced in Fort Wayne, IN and Tuscaloosa, AL.

What does the “T” stand for in KT?

The “T” in the BFGoodrich HD-Terrain T/A KT stands for Toughness. The HD-Terrain is the Ultimate Tire for the Toughest Jobs!

What are the key differences between the KO2, KM3 and the HD-Terrain?

While all three tires are appropriate for off-road use, KO2 and KM3 were designed for recreational use while HD-Terrain is designed for commercial use.

Is this product 3PMSF rated for snow?

No, this product is not 3PMSF/Severe Snow Rated. HD-Terrain optimizes wear and gravel chip tear performance for the most severe applications along with more soft soil traction than KO2. Optimizing these performances led us to designing a product that does not meet the 3PMSF threshold. Consumers and fleets that prioritize 3PMSF and winter traction over extreme chip and tear performance should continue to utilize KO2.

Will the same size KO2 be mixable with the HD-Terrain?

We do not recommend mixing KO2 and HD-Terrain tires on the same vehicle.

Which types of vehicles are best suited for this tire?

This tire is designed for Heavy-Duty pickup trucks. Each size is optimized for the range of vehicles that use that tire size based on the vehicle’s characteristics such as: Weight, Load Carrying Capacity, Drivetrain Layout, Horsepower, Torque.

Is there a standard manufacturer’s limited warranty on the HD-Terrain?

Yes. All BFGoodrich® tires have a Standard Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty which covers defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the original usable tread, or for 6 years from date of purchase, whichever occurs first. See warranty for details.

Is there a mileage warranty on the HD Terrain?

No. BFGoodrich does not provide a mileage warranty for tires used in commercial applications. The BFGoodrich® HD-Terrain T/A® KT was designed to deliver high levels of wear when used on HD pickups in commercial off-road applications.

How does the BFGoodrich 60-day consumer satisfaction guarantee work?

We’re confident you’ll love your new BFGoodrich® HD-Terrain T/A® KT replacement tires. So confident, in fact, that we back your purchase, with a 60-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. If you’re not 100% satisfied with your new tires, just bring the tires and original sales receipt back to the place of tire purchase within 60 days, and we will gladly exchange them for a new set of tires of equal or lesser value.

Who should I contact if I have additional questions?

Please contact Consumer Care at 1-866-866-6605

>> The sizes shown are average design values for tires measured on specified measuring rim widths.  Some tires may vary from this value by +/-3% of the section height (affecting overall diameter), and +/-4% of the section width.
>> Section width varies approximately 0.2" (5mm) for every 0.5" change in rim width.
>> Tread patterns are often tuned to accomodate different tire widths.  Tires for a particular dimension of a given tireline may vary in appearance from the tire shown in the photograph.

WARNING: Serious or fatal injury may result from tire failure due to underinflation or overloading. To ensure correct air pressure and vehicle load, refer to vehicle owner's manual or tire information placard on the vehicle. Serious injury or death may result from explosion of tire/rim assembly due to improper mounting. Only tire professionals should mount tires and they should never inflate beyond 40 psi to seat the beads.  Before mixing types of tires in any configuration on any vehicle, be sure to check the vehicle owner's manual for its recommendations.  No tire is indestructible.  An impact can cause a tire to fail, resulting in serious injury or death.  Consult your tire owner's manual for proper maintenance instructions.

When replacing an Original Equipment P-Metric or Euro Metric size tire with an LT-metric or High Flotation size tire, the air pressures of the LT-metric / High Flotation tire must be adjusted in order to properly carry the load of the vehicle. See your BFGoodrich Tires dealer for the proper air pressure recommendation.

DANGER:  Never mount a 16" diameter tire on a 16.5" rim.
DANGER:  Never mount a 17" diameter tire on a 17.5" rim.

Inflation pressure increase must not exceed the maximum pressure branded on the tire sidewall.  When a customer requests a replacement tire with a lower speed rating than the original equipment tire, you must clearly communicate to him or her that the handling of the vehicle may be different, and that its maximum speed capability is limited to that of the lowest speed-rated tire on the vehicle.  Exceeding the lawful speed limit is neither recommended nor endorsed.
